Community Care Behavioral Health

Community Care Behavioral Health is hiring a full-time senior medical director to work in the Medical Department, located in downtown Pittsburgh, Monday through Friday, regular business hours. The incumbent is responsible for assuring the quality and efficiency of healthcare services delivered to Community Care and UPMC Health Plan members.  The senior medical director will also serve as a resource to participating providers in the provision of quality medical care, by participating in strategic planning and regional and company leadership policy discussions.

Job Responsibilities:

-  Assure psychiatric involvement in the development, approval, and review of all policies, procedures, and protocols governing clinical care.
-  Lead integration efforts at Community Care Behavioral Health, including physician leadership of disease management and pharmacy initiatives and development of new initiatives designed to support better physical health care for members
-  Support leadership at both plans in efforts to improve quality measurements that reflect integrated care (e.g. HEDIS measures)
-  Supervise regional and associate medical directors as assigned
-  Review proposed service denials and supervises care managers in the utilization of appropriate medical necessity criteria, and ensures appropriate care management integration and coordination.

Requirements:

- PhD in medicine or osteopathy from an accredited school is required
- Minimum of 10 years clinical experience are required
- Experience in behavioral health treatment and program development are required
- At least 5 years of management experience are required
- Must have the ability to implement medical policies, and to enforce those policies through appropriate action

Licensure/Certifications:

- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required
- Board Certification in Psychiatry required, a second board certification is helpful preferred
